Elizabeth celebrates a decade of tourism growth with global kick-off event

As reported by nj.com, Elizabeth commemorated 10 years of thriving tourism with a vibrant celebration last week at The Mills at Jersey Gardens, according to a statement from business leaders.

The event, organized by the Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce (GECC) and the Elizabeth Destination Marketing Organization (EDMO) in partnership with Mayor J. Christian Bollwage, highlighted the city’s cultural, economic, and global milestones over the past decade.

Coinciding with National Travel and Tourism Week, the celebration underscored the vital role travel has played in powering Elizabeth’s economy, strengthening communities, and connecting people.

According to the statement, in 2024 alone, Elizabeth welcomed a record-breaking $748 million in visitor spending, resulting in a total economic impact of $1.1 billion. Tourism supported 8,743 jobs, generated $381 million in labor income, and contributed $119 million in state and local tax revenues.
