Union County Gym Members Donate $6K to Help Hungry Residents

Union County announced that it has received a $6,000 donation from Max Challenge gyms of New Providence, Springfield and Union to help Union County residents in need.

The donation was submitted in the form of grocery store gift cards and will be distributed by the Union County Division of Social Services. The donation was made possible because of the generosity of gym members’ collective donations.

Freeholder Rebecca L. Williams and deputy county manager Amy Wagner joined gym owners Allison DiMarzio and Amy Walsh, and gym manager Sara Kirsch at the New Providence location to accept the donation on Union County’s behalf.

The gift card collection took place as a park of the sixth annual “Fitmas Competition,” where gym members compete against each other on their fitness and nutrition goals.

Union County residents who are experiencing hunger are encouraged to visit ucnj.org/food to get information on upcoming food drives or call the Division of Social Services at 908-965-2700, Elizabeth, or 908-791-7000, Plainfield.
