Amenity-Rich Community Next to Train Station Complements Busy Lifestyle
RARITAN, NJ – Kayla Toomer has a busy schedule. She is a second-year law student at Seton Hall Law in Newark, works full-time at a Sixth Avenue law firm in Manhattan, works an internship at the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of New York, and she is finishing up a master’s degree in diplomacy and international relations. She has a lot of obligations in the city, but when it comes to choosing a place to live, she is more comfortable in a suburban environment.
“I don’t mind working in the city and playing in the city, but when it comes to living in the city, that’s not my ideal,” Ms. Toomer said. “Living in the suburbs was no problem when we were working virtually, but with my office opening up again in two months, I needed to find a place to live that could provide me with the environment I was looking for while also meeting my commuting needs.”
Ms. Toomer began searching for a new apartment early this summer after receiving the notice that she would likely be expected back in the office in the fall. She was living in North Plainfield while working remotely, which has the suburban environment she enjoys, but is not near a train station. Her daily commute would be a nightmare. She discovered Crossings at Raritan Station and knew it would be the perfect fit.
“They showed me the apartment layouts and the amenities, and I found the aesthetics really appealing,” Ms. Toomer said. “I knew I was going to need amenities like the gym, and with the way the market is going, I was happy to see that the rent was within my price range. I chose a one-bedroom apartment with a den and now I’m in the process of moving in. I’m definitely excited about this opportunity to live at Crossings and take advantage of the easier commute.”
Crossings at Raritan Station is a brand-new luxury rental community that opened in May at 59 Second Avenue in the borough of Raritan, just next to the Raritan Train Station. Developed by Accurate Builders & Developers, the community delivers a collection of 256 studio, one- and two-bedroom rental residences, modern indoor and outdoor amenities, and proximity to shops and restaurants in both Raritan and downtown Somerville.
Ms. Toomer said the fact that the train station is just steps from her new apartment will make her daily commute much easier to deal with. She will be commuting on NJ TRANSIT’s Raritan Valley line, which offers many trains with a “one-seat” ride directly into Manhattan and others that travel to Newark Penn Station, where connections to New York are available via NJ TRANSIT or the PATH system. She appreciates the fact that she will be home as soon as the train arrives every evening and will never have to deal with traffic or look for parking.
The convenient location paired with the building’s upscale amenities, such as the state-of-the-art fitness center, means Ms. Toomer will be able to maximize her limited free time. Although her law office has a gym, she prefers to use one closer to home and knows she wouldn’t find the time to drive to one before or after work.
“The location and the gym are really key for me as far as lifestyle goes,” Ms. Toomer said. “They have screens up in the lobby to show your commute times and the gym is great. It’s not just a basic gym. It’s well-stocked with machines and it is nice and bright, which is something I look for. If the energy is bright, I’m much more motivated. I love the gym, but I usually don’t have time to get to one so I am thrilled that I will have one right inside the building.”
Designed by architect Devereaux and Associates, Crossings at Raritan Station has introduced a new caliber of rental residences to suburban Raritan, with features such as 9’ ceilings, luxury plank flooring, and upscale kitchens with quartz counters, modern espresso cabinets, a full-height subway tile backsplash, stainless-steel appliances and a gas range.
The interior spaces were carefully crafted and well thought out, with details such as tiled bath floors and wet walls, an in-unit washer & dryer, and custom roller shade window treatments in every home. Private outdoor balconies and extra-spacious den layouts are available in select homes.
All residents of Crossings at Raritan Station enjoy a full complement of amenities and services that include a sophisticated lobby lounge with coffee bar, a state-of-the-art fitness center with virtual training technology, Amazon® package lockers, private covered parking, a bicycle share, bicycle storage and 24/7 onsite maintenance.
Outside, multiple landscaped courtyards provide abundant space for al fresco recreation and relaxation. Among them are an outdoor terrace with lounge seating, BBQs, a fire pit, outdoor games, and a meditation garden with hammocks and greenery. Residents will also enjoy access to a tennis court, basketball court, and dog park.
Ms. Toomer is already familiar with the Wegmans Food Market at Bridgewater Town Centre and the abundant shopping and dining at the Bridgewater Commons mall, both about a five-minute drive from Crossings. She’s looking forward to discovering downtown Somerville, which offers a unique variety of restaurants, retail shops and small businesses. Somerville’s pedestrian-only street, Division Street, is a thriving community square that is home to outdoor festivals, concerts, and movies under the stars’ programs. Downtown Raritan’s main street, Somerset Street, is even closer and offers a retail mix that includes an espresso bar, ice cream shop, bakeries, a craft store, music store, and a wide range of eateries.
Raritan is home to five parks and playgrounds as well as tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball/softball fields and two public swimming pools. It borders Duke Farms, a 1,000-acre estate that is open for walking, bicycling, and eco-exploration. Duke Farms also offers atmospheric outdoor dining at the Farm Barn Café and a seasonal farmers market. The Village Brewing Company in downtown Somerville is another local favorite, serving a rotating selection of craft beers and an inspired menu of elevated New American cuisine. Routes 287, 78, 202, 206, 28 and 22 are all nearby and directly connect to other major roads, such as the New Jersey Turnpike. The Lincoln tunnel is about 45 miles away.
Monthly rental rates at Crossings at Raritan Station start from $1,906 net effective, with grand opening incentives of up to two months free for a limited time. Immediate occupancy is available.
